Simple Safe Travel Checklist

1. Before You Leave

  • Turn on full-disk encryption on (FileVault for Mac) and set a strong passcode
  • Complete backup of both devices to encrypted storage at home

2. Turn Off Biometrics

  • Disable Face ID / Touch ID
  • Re-enable once you're through, if desired

3. Signal: Backup, Delete, Reinstall

  • Back up chat history before you go (Settings > Backups)
  • Delete the app before crossing a border
  • Reinstall and restore from backup once you're on the other side

4. 1Password Travel Mode

  • Go to: Password Manager for Teams, Businesses, and Families
  • Turn on Travel Mode (top right > Manage Account > switch on Travel Mode) for every vault holding sensitive data
  • Open and unlock 1Password on each device you're traveling with, while online, so the change takes effect
  • After the trip: Manage Account > turn Travel Mode off to restore full vault access (again requires opening the app online)
